Terms

The agreement between you and us. Short on purpose — an agreement nobody reads is not agreement.

What we provide

Book-keeping, payroll, sales and reporting software, as it exists at the time you use it. We will keep it working and keep improving it. We will tell you before we remove something you rely on.

What you are responsible for

The accuracy of your books and the correctness of what you file. Mikkl calculates and reports; it does not audit you, and it is not your accountant. A number this software produces is your number once you act on it.

Your clients’ and employees’ data. If you keep books for other businesses, you decide what goes in and you are responsible for having the right to put it there. We process it for you — see the privacy page.

Your account. Keep your password to yourself and set up two-factor authentication. For owners, admins and engaged accountants we require it, because those accounts can see everything.

Your data is yours, and you can leave with it

Settings → Export gives you your whole workspace at any time, without asking us and without notice. That is deliberate: software that holds your books hostage is software you cannot trust with them.

If you stop paying, your workspace becomes read-only rather than closed, so you can still get your records out.

Paying

Plans are billed in advance for the period you choose. You can cancel at any time and keep access to the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund part-periods, and we do not bill you again after you cancel.

When we would close an account

For using Mikkl to commit a crime, for trying to reach another business’s data, or for attacking the service. We would tell you, and you would still be able to export your books.

What we do not promise

That the software is free of defects, or that it will never be unavailable. We will tell you honestly when something is wrong — including when the cause was ours.

We are not liable for business decisions you make from what the software shows you, nor for tax positions you take. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you have paid us in the preceding twelve months.

Changes, and which version you agreed to

We record the version of these terms your account accepted, with the date. If we change them in a way that matters we will tell you and ask again rather than rely on a notice nobody saw.

Which law

The laws of Jamaica, and the courts of Jamaica.
